Hyperprolactinaemia

Hyperprolactinaemia is the term used to describe an excess (>360 mu/l) of prolactin in the blood. The causes of hyperprolactinaemia may be considered, in a simplified fashion, as resulting from four basic abnormalities of prolactin secretion. In some patients, it is not possible to elucidate the cause of hyperprolactinaemia.
